In the crowded city of London, there was a girl named Wendy Darling who lived with her younger brothers, John and Michael. They stayed in a warm, comfortable house with their kind parents and their loyal dog, Nana, who watched over them like a gentle nanny.
Every evening, when it was time for bed, Wendy would tell her brothers stories about a faraway place called Neverland. In Neverland, children never had to grow up. There were adventures every day, and magic was everywhere.
One night, after Wendy had finished another story and the children were almost asleep, something amazing happened. A boy suddenly flew into their nursery! His name was Peter Pan, and with him was a tiny glowing fairy named Tinker Bell. Peter had visited before, but this time he had returned for a special reason: he was looking for his missing shadow, which he had accidentally left behind.
Peter tried to stick his shadow back on, but it didn’t work. Wendy kindly helped him sew it back to his feet. Peter was so pleased that he decided to invite Wendy and her brothers to visit Neverland themselves. He told them they could fly there if they had two things: pixie dust and happy thoughts.
Tinker Bell flew around them, sprinkling them with sparkling pixie dust. Peter told them to think of the happiest thoughts they could. Suddenly, their feet lifted off the floor. Wendy, John, and Michael rose into the air and floated around the room. Then, following Peter Pan, they flew right out of the window and into the night sky.
They soared over the rooftops of London, past chimneys and church towers, and then far beyond the city. They crossed dark oceans and tall mountains, sailing through the stars until a strange and wonderful island came into view. This was Neverland.
Neverland was full of surprises. There were deep green forests, shining little lakes, and secret caves hidden in the rocks. There were mermaids who swam and sang in Mermaid Lagoon, flitting fairies who darted through the trees, and the Lost Boys—children who, like Peter, never grew older.
But Neverland also had danger. Sailing its seas was a crew of pirates led by the fierce Captain Hook. Long ago, Peter and Hook had fought, and Hook had lost his hand to a hungry crocodile. Ever since, Captain Hook had wanted revenge on Peter Pan. The crocodile, who had swallowed a ticking clock, followed Hook everywhere, waiting for another bite. You could always hear it coming: tick-tock, tick-tock.
Peter took Wendy, John, and Michael on many thrilling adventures. They visited the Indian village and became friends with Princess Tiger Lily. They explored Mermaid Lagoon and played games with the Lost Boys. Every day brought something new and exciting, but they always had to watch out for Captain Hook and his pirates, who were plotting to capture them.
One terrible day, Captain Hook’s plan worked. He caught Wendy, John, Michael, and all the Lost Boys. He brought them onto his pirate ship and decided they should walk the plank and fall into the sea, where the crocodile might be waiting.
Just when it seemed everything was lost, Peter Pan arrived, helped by brave little Tinker Bell. A fierce battle broke out on the deck of the ship. Swords clanged, pirates shouted, and Peter and Hook faced each other once again. With a clever move, Peter forced Captain Hook to tumble over the side of the ship. In the water below, the ticking crocodile was waiting. Terrified, Hook swam away as fast as he could, and the rest of the pirates fled in fear.
With the pirates gone, the ship now belonged to Peter and his friends. Peter asked Tinker Bell to sprinkle pixie dust all over the ship. Slowly, the great pirate ship lifted into the air and began to fly. Together, Peter, Wendy, John, Michael, Tinker Bell, and the Lost Boys sailed the flying ship all the way back across the sky to London.
At last, the ship reached the Darling house. Wendy, John, and Michael were glad to be home again with their parents and Nana. They knew they would always remember the wonders of Neverland, the Lost Boys, and their brave friend Peter Pan.
Peter promised Wendy that he would come back to visit. Then he and Tinker Bell waved goodbye and flew off into the night, returning to Neverland and all the adventures that waited there.
In time, Wendy and her brothers grew older, as all children do. But in their hearts, they never forgot the boy who never grew up or the magical island where they had once flown together.
The end.
