Mango Jelly Mystery
Anya: "Arjun, did you eat my last mango jelly?"
Arjun: "Nooo, maybe it just… disappeared."
Anya: "Mango jelly can’t disappear. I kept it in this steel dabba."
Amma: "Why are you both frowning near the fridge like it’s an exam paper?"
Anya: "Amma, my jelly is gone. I was saving it for after homework."
Arjun: "Maybe a ghost ate it. A very hungry ghost."
Amma: "A jelly-loving ghost, in our kitchen? Interesting."
Anya: "If a ghost came, it would at least leave the wrapper."
Arjun: "Well… the wrapper is in my pocket."
Amma: "Hmm. So the ghost wears shorts like Arjun?"
Anya: "Arjun! You said you didn’t eat it!"
Arjun: "I… I was going to put it back. It smelled so sweet with the chilli powder on top."
Anya: "You can’t put half-chewed jelly back, silly."
Amma: "Arjun, your ears are turning red. Is there something you want to admit?"
Arjun: "If I admit it, will Anya shout?"
Anya: "Maybe. A little."
Amma: "Or maybe she’ll listen if you’re honest."
Arjun: "Okay… I admit it. I ate your mango jelly."
Anya: "You didn’t even ask me."
Arjun: "I was scared you’d say no. And it was shining like gold in the dabba."
Amma: "Wanting something isn’t wrong. Hiding it is the problem."
Anya: "I was really excited to eat it after my spelling test."
Arjun: "I’m sorry, Anya. My tummy is happy but my heart feels yucky."
Amma: "That yucky feeling is what goes away when we admit the truth."
Anya: "Hmm. Next time, just ask. I might share."
Arjun: "Really? Even the big jellies from Paati’s house?"
Anya: "If you don’t steal them like a secret ghost."
Amma: "How about we cut this big mango into slices and share now?"
Arjun: "Yes! I admit I like real mango even more than jelly."
Anya: "I admit… I like you better when you tell the truth."
