Lunch Trade
Maya: "Amma packed lemon rice and pickle for lunch. I can smell it already!"
Ravi: "Lucky you! I brought boring chapati and sabzi again."
Maya: "Hey, chapati is perfect for rolling up and eating like a secret scroll."
Ravi: "Hmm, a secret scroll sabzi roll. I like that."
Maya: "Want to trade one bite? Your chapati for my lemon rice?"
Ravi: "Deal! But only if I get a big spoon of rice."
Maya: "Done. Oof, the bell rang. Let’s eat fast before the crows come."
Ravi: "Wait… where’s my tiffin box?"
Maya: "Check your bag properly. Maybe it’s hiding."
Ravi: "I checked twice. Alas, it’s not there."
Maya: "Oh no, you forgot it at home?"
Ravi: "I think so. I can almost taste the sabzi, but alas, it’s just my imagination."
Maya: "That feels terrible. Your stomach must be so upset."
Ravi: "It’s growling like a scooter. Alas, lunchtime is betraying me today."
Maya: "You can share mine. Amma always puts extra lemon rice."
Ravi: "But then you’ll have less."
Maya: "It’s okay. We’ll sit close and eat from both sides of the box."
Ravi: "Then alas for my missing tiffin… but hooray for your sharing."
Maya: "Next time your box comes, we’ll make that secret scroll sabzi roll."
Ravi: "And if I ever forget again, I’ll just sigh 'alas' and come sit next to you."
