The Kite Race
Anya: "Kiran, hurry! The kites will fly away without us!"
Kiran: "I’m coming! Amma’s still pinning this itchy badge."
Anya: "Badges can be crooked. It’s Sports Day, not a wedding."
Kiran: "But Amma said, ‘Stand properly, don’t get dirty.’ My brain is full of rules."
Anya: "Look at Riya and Kabir, racing already, chappals flying!"
Kiran: "They’ll get scolded. Kabir’s socks are brown now."
Anya: "Brown socks can be washed. This wind can’t be saved for later."
Kiran: "What if I fall? My stomach feels twisty."
Anya: "Then I’ll fall too. We’ll be the twisty-stomach team."
Teacher Aunty: "Children, kite race time! No prizes, just fun."
Kiran: "No prizes? Then why run?"
Anya: "For the jalebis after… and for that flying, carefree feeling."
Kiran: "Carefree? I don’t know how to do that."
Anya: "Just forget the badge, feel the wind, and let your feet decide."
Teacher Aunty: "Ready with your kites? One, two, three!"
Anya: "Run, Kiran! The sky is calling!"
Kiran: "Okay… whoa, my kite’s higher than the water tank!"
Anya: "Your smile is higher too. You look totally carefree now."
Kiran: "I do feel light… like my worries stayed back with my shoes."
