Birthday Conversations
Ananya: "Why are you wearing a kurta to school, Aarav? It’s not any festival."
Aarav: "I just felt like it. It’s soft, like Amma’s hugs."
Ananya:conventionally done." "But we’re all in uniform. That’s how it’s
Aarav: "Conventionally?"
Ananya: "Like… the normal way everyone expects. Same shirt, same shorts."
Aarav: "My socks have rockets. They didn’t get the message."
Ananya: "What if Ma’am gets angry? She likes things done the usual way."
Aarav: "I asked her yesterday. She said I can, because it’s my birthday."
Ananya: "Oh. So conventionally we wear uniform, but birthday kids get to shine."
Aarav: "Yup. One tiny change in the rule."
Ananya: "Your kurta has tiny mangoes. Now I’m thinking of mango pickle and curd rice."
Aarav: "Amma packed some pickle in my dabba. Want a bit?"
Ananya: "But we don’t eat before lunch."
Aarav: "Just a lick. Not a full bite."
Ananya: "Okay… mmm. Maybe doing things conventionally is good, but little birthday changes are yummy."
