Meera's Missing Anklet
Meera: "Arjun, have you seen my other anklet? The one with the tiny bells?"
Arjun: "No, Meera. Amma said hurry, the auto is coming for the puja!"
Meera: "I can’t dance with just one anklet. It feels… lopsided."
Arjun: "Maybe you left it in the bathroom. You were practicing your steps there."
Meera: "I checked! Only wet towel and toothpaste everywhere."
Arjun: "Hmm. Under the sofa then? Everything hides under the sofa."
Meera: "I looked. Just dust and one old biscuit."
Arjun: "Don’t throw the biscuit! I was saving that."
Meera: "Eww, Arjun, it has ants marching on it."
Amma: "Kids, what’s all this noise? We’re getting late for the temple."
Meera: "Amma, my anklet is missing. I can’t hear its jingle. I feel like I’m walking wrong."
Arjun: "She’s walking like a quiet elephant."
Meera: "Elephants aren’t quiet, silly."
Amma: "Both of you, take a breath. Think. When did you last hear the anklet’s sound?"
Meera: "In the morning, when I was eating idlis. I was swinging my legs."
Arjun: "Maybe it fell into the sambhar."
Meera: "Then I’d be jingling from my tummy."
Amma: "After breakfast, where did you go?"
Meera: "I fed Rani her milk. She was wagging her tail so fast."
Arjun: "Rani steals everything! Remember my cricket ball?"
Meera: "But she only chews smelly things. My anklet smells nice."
Arjun: "To Rani, your feet are smelly."
Amma: "Check near Rani’s mat, both of you."
Meera: "Just her old chew toy and my missing eraser."
Arjun: "And my missing sock! Rani is a thief."
Meera: "I’m never going to find it. I’ll just not dance."
Arjun: "Then who will do the spin at the end? Everyone waits for your spin."
Meera: "I’ll just clap from the corner. Quietly. Like a… stone."
Amma: "Meera, look at me. Close your eyes. Picture the anklet. Where were you when you took it off?"
Meera: "I was hot after practice. My feet were sweaty."
