The Mela Adventure
Anya: "Riya, come to the mela with us! There are fairy lights and chaat!"
Riya: "Mmm, I can smell the chaat… but I want to stay home."
Anya: "You said that for the park and for the movie too!"
Riya: "Home is nice. My bed is soft, my books are here, and Amma’s making rasam rice."
Amma: "What’s all this noise, girls?"
Anya: "Aunty, Riya never wants to come out. She just stays in the house like a secret."
Riya: "I don’t hide. I just like being here. It feels cozy in my tummy."
Amma: "Some people love going out. Some people love staying in."
Anya: "But won’t she get bored if she stays in all day?"
Riya: "I don’t get bored. I draw, I read, and I help Amma taste the rasam."
Amma: "Your friend is a homebody, Anya. Home is her favorite place."
Anya: "Homebody… that means she likes home more than outside, right?"
Riya: "Yes. I’m a homebody. Home is my best friend."
Anya: "I like running outside. You like curling up inside."
Amma: "Both are okay. The world needs both kinds of kids."
Anya: "Can a homebody try the mela for a little while?"
Riya: "Maybe… I can go for one hour, then hurry back to my rasam."
Amma: "Good idea. One hour at the mela, then we come home."
Anya: "Deal! The homebody gets rasam, and the explorer gets pani puri."
Riya: "Fine… but after one hour, this homebody is running to her pillow."
