Lunch Box Conversations
Ananya: "Ma packed lemon rice and pickle today. It smells so good already."
Ravi: "Lucky you. I just have plain curd rice again."
Ananya: "Curd rice is nice! Mine is all yellow and yours is all white. They look pretty together."
Ravi: "Pretty, but I’m hungry, not making rangoli."
Ananya: "We can trade one bite? You taste mine, I taste yours."
Ravi: "Last time I shared, Karthik took a giant bite and finished my samosa."
Ananya: "I’ll take a tiny bite, promise. Like an ant bite, not a dinosaur bite."
Ravi: "Hmm. Okay, but you go first so I can see."
Ananya: "Deal."
Ananya: "Mmm, your curd rice is so cool and soft. It feels nice after all the running."
Ravi: "Is that a real word or just a sound?"
Ananya: "It’s my tummy saying thank you. Mmm means it’s yummy."
Ravi: "Let me try yours then. Just a dot, okay?"
Ananya: "Here, with a teeny bit of pickle on top."
Ravi: "Mmm… it’s sour and spicy and lemony all together."
Ananya: "See? Your mouth also knows the mmm language."
Ravi: "Now my plain curd rice feels lonely."
Ananya: "We can do half-half. Lemon-curd rice. New recipe!"
Ravi: "If we mix and both go mmm, then it’s a good plan."
Ananya: "Taste test time."
Ravi: "Mmm! This is perfect. Not plain, not too spicy."
Ananya: "Our lunch box made us say mmm three times. That means it’s a hit."
Ravi: "Tomorrow I’ll bring pickle too. I want my tiffin to be mmm from the start."
