Crayon Conflict
Meera: "Hey, pass the yellow crayon. I need it now!"
Arjun: "You just grabbed my sharpener without asking. Why should I?"
Meera: "Because my sun will look weird without yellow!"
Arjun: "And my mango will look weird without yellow. This is my only one."
Amma: "Hmm, sounds like the crayons are fighting more than you two."
Meera: "Amma, Arjun won’t share. I asked first!"
Arjun: "She didn’t really ask. She just ordered me."
Meera: "I did not! I just said it fast."
Amma: "Try saying it the way you like people to talk to you, Meera. Listen to your own words."
Meera: "Umm... Arjun, can you please pass the yellow crayon?"
Arjun: "That sounds nicer. But you still took my sharpener."
Meera: "Oh. Sorry. I should’ve said please for that too."
Amma: "See how the room feels different when you’re polite?"
Arjun: "Yeah, it feels less like a traffic jam and more like… a quiet temple."
Meera: "Temples aren’t quiet in our street, Arjun. The bell is so loud!"
Arjun: "Okay, okay. More like when we eat dosa together and no one is fighting."
Meera: "Fine, now you’re making me hungry. Can I please have the yellow crayon so my sun can shine on your mango?"
Arjun: "That’s a very polite request. Here, take it. Just don’t eat it like mango pickle."
Meera: "I won’t. And when we’re done, we can show Amma our polite sunshine mango picture."
