The Sweet Smell of Payasam
Maya: "Why is the whole house smelling like a sweet shop today?"
Arjun: "Because Amma made payasam and she said we can’t taste it yet!"
Maya: "But my tongue is begging for it. Just one tiny spoon?"
Amma: "No tasting till the guests come. You can help me instead."
Arjun: "Help? My stomach is already doing bhangra."
Maya: "Mine too. I’ll just stand near the pot and… you know… breathe."
Arjun: "You mean sniff it? That’s worse! My nose will start crying."
Maya: "I already sniffed it once. The steam went up and hugged my face."
Arjun: "Lucky! What did it smell like? Tell me every detail."

Arjun: "Fine, I’ll keep the spoons. But I’m sniffing this one first."
Maya: "You can’t sniff a spoon, silly."
Arjun: "Watch me. I just sniffed it. Smells like… metal and disappointment."
Amma: "Arjun, Maya, carry these bowls to the table, carefully."
Maya: "I’m walking slowly. The payasam is waving its smell at me."
Arjun:sniffed it again!" "It’s not waving, it’s attacking. My nose just
Maya: "Don’t blame your nose. Mine sniffed it too, all by itself."
Amma: "Your noses can sniff all they want. Mouths still have to wait."
Arjun: "That’s so unfair. My nose gets the festival before my tongue."
Maya: "Maybe sniffing is like a secret trailer before the real movie."
Arjun: "Yeah… my nose watched the trailer. Now my tummy wants tickets."
Amma: "Guests are here! Sit down, both of you."
Maya: "Finally! My spoon just sniffed the payasam… and now my mouth will too."
Arjun: "Amma, I sniffed it a hundred times. This first bite tastes like victory."
