The Dandiya Dance Debate
Meera: "Arjun, move! I want the front spot for the dandiya dance!"
Arjun: "No, I came first! I’m not standing at the back again."
Meera: "But my lehenga twirls better in front. Look at this spin!"
Arjun: "My sticks make a louder sound. Listen… tak-tak-tak!"
Amma: "Both of you, stop poking each other with the dandiya. What’s going on?"
Meera: "He’s blocking me. I practiced all week, Amma!"
Arjun: "I practiced too! Why should I be the one to move?"
Amma: "The garba circle is big. Can you think of a way to shine together?"
Meera: "Together? It feels like only one person can be the star."
Arjun: "Yeah, like a race. One winner, one loser."
Amma: "Is this a race, or a dance where everyone has fun?"
Meera: "It is more fun when people copy my steps and clap."
Arjun: "And when they copy my stick moves. Clap-tak-tak!"
Meera: "Wait… what if we stand side by side and team up?"
Arjun: "Team up? Then what do we do?"
Meera: "I’ll do big spins, you do loud sticks. We team up to lead the line."
Arjun: "Oh! We team up like superheroes. You’re Spin Girl, I’m Stick Boy."
Amma: "Now that sounds like a real plan to team up."
Meera: "Okay, when the drum goes ‘dhum-dhum’, we shout, ‘Team up!’ and start."
Arjun: "And if we team up, we share the claps and the laddus. Deal!"
