Rainy Day Cricket
Meera: "Ugh, it’s raining again. Our cricket game is ruined."
Arjun: "Yeah, my bat is just lying there, all sad."
Amma: "Come inside, you two. The balcony is turning into a swimming pool."
Meera: "But Amma, I was going to hit my first six today. Now everything is spoiled."
Arjun: "Rain only has downsides. Mud, wet socks, and no cricket."
Amma: "Only downsides? Listen to that pitter-patter on the roof. It sounds like the tabla."
Meera: "I don’t care about tabla sounds. I wanted to smash the ball into the sky."
Arjun: "And I wanted to shout, ‘Catch it if you can!’ at you."
Amma: "What if we play something else? We still have power, and I have hot pakoras."
Meera: "Pakoras?"
Arjun: "And chutney?"
Amma: "Green chutney, extra lemon. And we can draw a cricket stadium on the floor with chalk."
Meera: "Like a mini Wankhede in our hall?"
Arjun: "I can be bowler, you be batter, and Amma is the loud crowd."
Amma: "I will shout so loudly the neighbors will think India won the World Cup."
Meera: "And we can pretend the rain is the fireworks."
Arjun: "Okay… this is actually fun. I like sliding on the tiles to catch the ball."
Meera: "And we’re not sweating like buffaloes in the sun."
Amma: "See? Rain has upsides too."
Arjun: "Yeah, one of the upsides is hot pakoras and cool floor cricket."
Meera: "And another upside is… I can still hit a six. It just lands in the sofa instead of the sky!"
