The Library Uncle's Arrival
On Sunday afternoon, Amma spread a mat on the balcony. “The library uncle is coming,” she whispered, like it was a festival.
Soon, a big cloth bag arrived, heavy and lumpy. When Amma opened it, the smell of ink and paper floated out. Inside were 書籍 of all colors—some fat, some thin, some with shiny pictures of kites and laddoos.
Meera's Hesitation
Meera reached for a bright blue 書籍, then froze. “What if it’s too hard?” she asked.
“Try one page,” Amma said, pouring cool nimbu paani. Meera traced the bumpy letters with her finger. Slowly, the words began to dance into sense. A tiny smile crept up.
Finding Comfort in Reading
By the third page, Meera forgot to be scared. The 書籍 sat warm in her hands, like a new friend who had always been waiting for her.
