Maya: "I’m so hungry, Amma! Did the modaks come out of the steamer?"
Amma: "Yes, little mouse. But wait, they’re hot. Let them cool."
Ravi: "I can smell the jaggery and coconut from here. My tummy is shouting."
Maya: "You already ate one, Ravi. I saw you."
Ravi: "It just slipped into my mouth. I almost gulped it whole."
Maya: "Amma, can I take the biggest one for Ganesh ji and the second biggest for me?"
Amma: "First one goes to Ganesh ji, then we share nicely. That’s our deal."
Ravi: "But Maya always grabs fast. Last time I only got a tiny, broken tail."
Maya: "You were slow! My throat just goes glug when I’m excited."
Amma: "If you both only gulp, you won’t taste the cardamom and ghee."
Ravi: "Okay, I’ll try small bites. No more monster gulping."
Maya: "Me too. I don’t want to just gulp and forget the taste."
Amma: "Good. One modak each now, and we chew slowly."
Ravi: "Mmm… it’s so soft and sweet. I didn’t gulp this time!"
Maya: "Me neither. I only gulped my happiness when the filling melted."
